Labor Day Festivities

After the Hawkeye Game on Saturday, we booked it down to Kansas City and boy was it a short but fun-filled trip. When we arrived Saturday night at Kevins grandma Mama Hodes house we realized it was going to be a full house.....13 bodies under one roof! Good thing Mama has a big house;-) On Sunday we went and visited Kevins grandma Momo Hart. She had not met Owen yet since when we were in Kansas City in May she was sick so we couldn't wait for her to meet him. She has other great-grandsons but Owen was the first one she has had a chance to meet since the others live in California. She was excited to see him and as you can tell in the pictures he got a kick out of her too! Then that afternoon we went to the annual Hodes picnic at Kevins Aunt Kathy's house and had a chance to see a lot of Kevins extended family. Kevins brothers and sister were in town too and we really enjoyed being able to hang out with them too. We also stopped to see two of Kevin's aunts so they could see Owen and they just loved every minute of it. Then on our way back to Iowa City we made a very brief stop in Des Moines to visit Kevins 3rd grandma Nana Grunzweig and his Aunt Karen was also there. By the time we got home that night......needless to say, we were pooped!!!! Even when trips are short and exhausting it is all worth it when I think about how big of a blessing family is. I am so happy to have Owen grow up around so much family that love him!
